Boys Golf

By Head Coach Scott Holahan

This year’s golf teams are in “full swing”!  All teams are relatively inexperienced, but I’m optimistic that we can build off last year and improve. Wins to me are not the most important aspect with any team I have coached. It is really about personal growth and confidence building that I’m most concerned. The following bible verses are going to guide us this year:

Anxiety – Proverbs 12:25, Philippians 4:6-7 – An anxious hear weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up. Don’t be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Focus – Proverbs 4:23-25 – Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.   Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead, and fix your gaze directly before you.
Best Results – 2 Timothy 2:15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
Our High School teams, have a total of 10 student athletes. Currently, we have 7 Boys and 3 Girls, and we are hopeful to add a 4th to make a Girls team. God has always been faithful giving Tree of Life Christian golf teams enough players, but in any situation, we will be thankful for the kids we have. We are still working on a full schedule, but I expect to have about 10 matches. Our first match is scheduled against Madison Christian and Granville Christian on Thursday, August 13th at Links of Groveport. The team is led by Senior, James Ugland, and we are excited about the Freshman coming into the program this year. The Freshman are led by Kaleb Thompson, and also include Jordan Bing and Will Davis. Other participants include returning players, Isaac Mayes, Logan Grantz, and Zachary Honaker. The girls are led by “veteran” Sophomores Tiffany Ly and Rachael Lerch. We also welcome new golfer and Freshman, Hannah Schneider. The Girls will play co-ed with the Boys if we do not get a 4th Girl. Please contact me if there are any High School Girls that are interested to play. Golf is a GREAT game for personal growth, but requires perseverance and patience!
